Board Meeting Highlights – May 23, 2023
- The student services department staff presented on their roles and activities related to school counsellors and the behavior consultant role.
- At the Board’s request the legal aspects of home schooling were shared.
- Holy Family central office, students, staff and community partners collected a total of $3852.00 for the Toonies for Tuition fundraiser.
- SSBA Executive attended the meeting virtually for a Q and A with Trustees in several topics. The timelines for the SSBA strategic plan renewal process was given.
- Management reviewed the May version of the Provincial Education Plan and its impact in Holy Family’s 2023-24 strategic plan.
- The highlights of Catholic Education Week activities were shared with Trustees. This year’s theme is “We are Many, We are One”.
- The revised 2023-24 Strategic Plan was approved.
- Amendments to PMR for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 budget were approved.
- The 3 year PMR plan for the years 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 was approved.
- The 2023-24 division budget was approved with the following motions:
- Motion: “THAT the 2023-24 budget be approved as presented, pending any minor changes required for ministry approval.”
- Motion “THAT the use of $ 843,350 surplus funds be approved as presented, to balance the 2023-24 budget.
- Motion “THAT the 5-Year Capital and Maintenance Plan from 2023-28 be approved as presented.”
- The updated 2023-24 Organizational Chart was shared with the Board.
- Information items included:
- Central Office Retreat agenda.
- Mental Health and Well-being Symposium agenda.
- Good News Story submission to SCSBA.
- A federally funded Early Years Coordinator position to begin on June 1, 2023 has been filled by Chelsey Parise.
- The next meeting of the Board is June 14, 2023.
