Board Meeting Highlights – April 18, 2023
St Mary’s teachers Kaitlyn Graham and Marla Thompson presented key learnings from a Future of Education Technology Conference with a demonstration of direct application and use in their classrooms.
Holy Family schools are collecting Toonies for Tuition. School plans were shared with the Board.
SSBA Spring Assembly highlights were presented. The Board prepared questions for a May meeting with SSBA Executive. Some SSBA position statements were discussed and feedback will be forwarded to the SSBA.
The CFO, Georgia Hanwell presented a review of provincial budget impacts from a study done by SASBO.
The CEO gave an update on the Provincial Education Plan as shared at the SSBA Spring Assembly. There are no new concrete details available for planning 2023-24 to date.
Trustees who attended the Teacher Liaison Committee meeting discussed the feedback received from the schools. A very positive collaborative message was shared. Several school celebrations were presented by teachers at the meeting.
The motion on education property tax was approved “THAT the Board adopts the provincial education property tax mill rates as set by the Lieutenant Governor in Council for the 2023 taxation year.”
The END called E-2 Factors Affecting Student Achievement was passed by the Board.

Catholic Education Week is May 14-20, 2023, this year’s theme is “We are Many, We are One”. Details and plans for the week were shared.
Promotional pamphlets for the Family Place were shared. Management indicated that interviews are underway for the Early Years Community Coordinator. This position has been made available due to federal funding.
The next public Board meeting is May 23, 2023.
